Jewelry Maintenance

We all have certain pieces of jewelry, which we wear almost every day. Over time these items may become worn, or even break. To help keep the wear and tear down we must properly maintain our jewelry. The most obvious thing to do is not wearing jewelry while at the gym, or doing anything sports related. This increases the risk of losing or damaging our valuables. Also, wearing jewelry in the pool is a very bad idea. The chemicals in the chlorine can oxidize our accessories. These chemicals will also cause erosion, making the metal brittle, and susceptible to breakage. Lastly, it is a good idea to take jewelry to a professional every six months or so.  That way the jeweler can check for loose stones, prongs wearing down around stones, or possible breakage to your jewelry. A professional  jewelry store will be able to tell you if repairs need to be made.
